Members Kiran Kumar and Mohan Upadhyay demanded a discussion over the issue and urged that construction works undertaken under action plan should get the approval from the house.
President Dinaker Shetty informed that the blueprint of action plan comprises of renovation of the town hall at a cost of Rs 2 crore, widening of Ambagilu-Kalsanka stretch from Tangadagadi to Kalsanka at an estimated cost of Rs 6 crore, Rs 3 crore for land acquisition process for the road to be built connecting Rajangana and Railway station.
A amount of Rs 1 crore will be utilised for converting Beedengudde dumping yard to a playground and children park, upgradation of Malpe-Molkalmuru state highway at Parkala at the cost of Rs 3 crore, computerisation of CMC offices at the cost of Rs 50 lakh, construction of bridge between Malpe and Padukere at the cost of Rs 6 crore, renovation of Board High school at the cost of Rs 2.50 crore.
An open air theatre will be built at an estimated cost of Rs 2 crore. Rs 1 crore will be spent on setting right the traffic problems and Rs 2 crore will be utilised to take up development works in 35 wards.
The other issue that rocked the floor of the house was carelessness of the contractors and other concerned during the construction of commercial complexes and roads.
They dump the building materials on the road, said M R Nayak. He wanted to initiate action against the builders and contractors.
The Commissioner assured to take measures against the builders within couple of weeks, he said.
Member Amritha wanted to clear the blocked main road in Kinnimulkhi area. The water that has accumulated in the area blocked the road and disrupted the movement of vehicles, she said. Dinaker Shetty said temporary measures will be made and the problem will be solved permanently after the monsoon.
Member Kiran Kumar sought to initiate action against the illegal hoardings of advertisements on either sides of roads in the city limits.
He said signal lights are put only for the sake of advertisements and not for the benefit of public. The lights are not connected through underground cables. How did they get NOC for installing street lights? he asked.
To a query on parking zones, the Commissioner informed that the process of marking parking zones in Udupi city limits is underway. The issue of parking lots are being discussed with Police Department, he added.
