Belagavi: An unauthorised person engaged in processing documents and issuing printouts to the staff by occupying the seat of Sub-Registrar, Belagavi North at the Sub-Registrar office in the Deputy Commissioners office.
The incident was observed on Tuesday where the man identified as Rajshekhar Alagudi sat at the official desk and carried out documentation.
Alagudi, though unauthorised to work at the government office, had gained access to the system there.
The matter was unearthed after complaints from staff members of the Sub-Registrar, Belagavi North office and locals who noticed the unauthorised person operating official documents. Some also pointed out that he would be sitting in the office after official timings to work on the documents that needed to be processed next day.
When confronted, Alagudi claimed he has been authorised by Sub-Registrar, Belagavi North Karibasavanagowda for respective work. However, when crowds gathered and the matter seemed to intensify, he stepped out of the office and mentioned that he had only come to the office premises to drop his father Bhimappa Alagudi who works as attender.
Sub-Registrar, Belagavi North Karibasavanagowda informed the media that he was attending a meeting along with District Registrar and had handed over the charge to FDA in his absence. He clarified that no unauthorised person can occupy his seat or use the computer for processing the documents. Anybody occupying his seat and processing documents was illegal.
Karibasavanagowda responded to the incident and stated that he shall conduct an inquiry and file police complaint.
"We know the person was son of our staff member. We have CCTVs installed in the office but the DVR was in the possession of Lokayukta Police and we shall write letter to them to get it back," the official said.
District Registrar Mahantesh Patatar noted that he shall conduct an inquiry on Alagudi for occupying the official chair and processing documents without authorisation.
"When the Sub-Registrar is not in office, the charge has to be with FDA and not anybody from outside. We shall ask Sub-Registrar to file police complaint and action will be taken against the attender too whose son was involved in the unauthorised activity," Patatar said.
