He was speaking at a Quit India Movement programme, organised by government PU college, Field Publicity Directorate, Arehalli gram panchayat and Jayaprakash Narayan Rural Development Committee at Arehalli taluk recently.

The country attained independence after hundreds of leaders including Gandhiji pledged their life and involved in various movements and the Quit India Movement held in 1942 forced the Britishers to quit the country. Today’s generation should understand the amount of patriotism involved in such movements which should be an eye-opener to them, Amit said.

R Vishwanath, who fought for the RTI Act said, even after several years of Independence, India is still facing poverty at some places. The government projects meant for poor and downtrodden are being enjoyed by the higher classes. The public can now avail the necessary details through RTI Act, which is a positive development, he said.
