Condemning the negligent attitude of the CMC towards guest teachers, Dalit Sangharsha Samithi carried out a ‘Guru Dakshinegagi Nadige,’ a unique procession on Monday.

The procession commenced at Gaddige and passed through various streets in Madikeri and raised funds for Gurudakshine.

Addressing the protest, district convener H L Divakar said that the amount raised will be handed over to the guest teachers who have not been paid honorarium through the school heads.

A V School, Hindustani School and a school on Mysuru Road are CMC schools in Madikeri.

A majority of the poor students pursue their education in these schools. Unfortunately, the guest teachers who have been teaching the children are not getting the honorarium, said Divakar.

Divakar rued that the CMC has failed to earmark funds to be given as an honorarium for guest teachers.
