Mysuru: The century-old University of Mysore (UoM) is providing an opportunity to its older students, who have failed in the examinations earlier, to take re-examination and complete their degree, now. A circular will be issued shortly to colleges, under its present jurisdiction of Mysuru district, and also in earlier jurisdiction districts of Mandya, Hassan, and Chamarajanagar.
The UoM is providing the chance to those who have failed in various undergraduate degree courses, including BA, BCom, BSc, BCA, BBA/BBM, and BSW, due to various reasons, from the academic year 2004-05 to 2018-19, to take the re-examination. The students can appear for the examination in any of the subjects, in any of the semesters of their degree course, in which they have failed.
As a one-time measure, G H Mahadeva Swamy, retired professor of the UoM’s examination section, has been appointed as the nodal officer, to complete the special examination process. This is to ensure that the students make use of this opportunity, to fulfil their dreams, to complete their degree.
According to a press note from UoM Registrar M K Savitha, students of the constituent and affiliated government and private colleges of the UoM, who have completed their three-year degree course, but have failed in some subjects, can take the examinations.
“The university will issue a circular regarding this, soon. The students interested in appearing for the examination will have to pay a fee at the college, where they previously studied. The examinations will be conducted for the students from four districts – Mysuru, Mandya, Hassan, and Chamarajanagar – with Mysuru city as the centre,” she said.
“The principals of all colleges, in the four districts, have already been informed to provide information and guidance to the students concerned, so that they are not deprived of this opportunity. A circular has been issued regarding this. A meeting of the principals has also been held, to exchange views and ideas. They have been instructed to collect the information (name, register number, subject, class, period of degree completion, etc) of the students, who were admitted to their respective college, but did not complete their degree,” Savitha said.
“Since there is one university per district now, most students may be confused about where to take the examination, if they have failed. Some students may not be in contact with their respective colleges. Thus, the principals and teachers of the colleges should take more interest and provide information to everyone, so that the problems faced by the students are addressed. It has been decided to conduct the examinations at the Evaluation Bhavan, Manasagangotri, tentatively in the months of June or July,” she said.
