The friction between Registrar R Rajanna and University of Mysore In-charge Vice Chancellor Dayanada Mane took a new twist after the latter got the office of Deputy Registrar Vishakanta sealed on Tuesday.

“I have written to the Governor, who is the Chancellor of the university, seeking action against the illegal appointment of non-teaching staff. The office has been locked in view of protecting the documentary evidence in connection with the appointment of 96 persons. There is fear of the documents being tampered with. There have been instances of transfer orders being issued from the same office without the notice of the VC. Vishakanta has likewise been transfered to the SC/ST division,” Mane said.

Mane however, did not mention Rajanna’s name. “The salaries of the 96 non-teaching staff had been withheld for three months since they reported to work on January 10. The same were however, paid later. My intention is not to harm the staffers. But, such illegal appointments will affect the reputation of the university. Many people in the university have ego-related issues which have caused these problems. The Governor will take a decision in this regard,” he said.
