The projects include the construction of a pedestrian subway at old Shettihalli Gate and a limited height subway at Bheemasandra, both aimed at improving safety and convenience for the public.

Speaking on the occasion, Somanna said that the projects are crucial to improve traffic flow.

"Earlier, the funding for construction of Road Over Bridge (ROB) and Road Under Bridge (RUB) was shared equally by the state and central governments. But now it is fully funded by the central government. All the works will be completed within the stipulated time," he said.

The construction of a pedestrian subway at Old Shettihalli Gate has been sanctioned at an estimated cost of Rs 2.49 crore, according to a press statement by the ministry, released on Saturday. The release added that the subway is being built to address difficulties faced by pedestrians, as the existing Road Under Bridge (RUB) near the old gate has heavy traffic, making it difficult for people to cross.

According to the release, once the work is completed, the subway will provide a smooth path for pedestrians traveling between Shettihalli and the main market area of Tumakuru, improving safety and accessibility for the public.

The construction of a Limited Height Subway at Bheemasandra, has been sanctioned at an estimated cost of Rs 1.87 crore. This subway will allow two-wheelers and pedestrians to move more easily between the State Highway side and local villages, the release adds.

After the foundation stone laying ceremony, Somanna inspected ongoing works of Road Under Bridge in lieu of LC No. 61 (Donnere Gate) which is being constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 4.68 crore, the Road Under Bridge in lieu of LC No. 62 (D. Rampura Gate) which is being constructed at a cost of Rs 5.21 crore, and the Road Under Bridge in lieu of LC No. 64 (Badenahalli Gate) which is being constructed at a cost of Rs 4.75 crore.

These works are a part of ongoing efforts to enhance road and rail safety in the region.
