Bidar: Various breeds of dogs attracted attention with different sounds. Some dogs appeared as delicate as flowers, while others resembled tigers. Their play was remarkable. Managing them and presenting them to the public was a significant feat at the dog show organised at the Karnataka Veterinary, Animal and Fisheries Sciences University.
In a square area, dogs walked one behind the other and it resembled models walking on a ramp. The spectators appreciated through applause and whistles.
The Siberian Husky, Belgian Malinois, Pomeranian and the Mudhol Hound which joined the Indian Army captured everyone’s attention and received applause.
Puppy Round, Labrador Retriever, German Shepherd and Pomeranian dogs were showcased in the male and female categories. Veterinarians examined the dogs’ teeth, gait, physique, agility and overall health on the spot to select them for awards.
As part of the 20th foundation day celebration of the Karnataka Veterinary, Animal and Fisheries Sciences University, a dog show was organised on Sunday at the university campus.
Vice-Chancellor K C Veeranna distributed the awards. Board Member Basavaraj Bhatamurge, Programme Co-ordinator Channappagowda, Tahsildar Dattatreya Gada, Basavaraj, Gautham Arali, Suresh, Satish Biradar, Bhure and others were present.
People from various regions attended and enjoyed the exhibition. Over 120 dogs participated in the dog show with some attendees bringing their pet dogs. On this occasion, the Veterinary University provided free vaccinations to all dogs along with guidance on dog care.
Intelligence
A female dog-Deepa-from Bidar Police Department’s dog squad unit demonstrated her intelligence and agility at a dog show.
Ashok Kumar from the DAR dog squad unit gave various commands which Deepa followed capturing the attention of the audience.
During a demonstration where narcotics were hidden among people, Deepa identified the specific individual by scent earning applause and appreciation from the crowd.
Curtains down
On the occasion of the 20th foundation day of the Karnataka Veterinary, Animal, and Fisheries Sciences University, a three-day livestock, poultry and fish mela was organised on the university campus in Nandinagar near Kamathan in Bidar taluk. The event concluded on Sunday.
On the final day, a large number of people attended the mela with their families, observing various breeds of livestock, different types of poultry, and ornamental fish.
