Vatal held for 'sleep on street' protest, released

Police arrested Kannada chaluvali leader Vatal Nagaraj for resorting to an unique protest by sleeping on the mat at Bhuvaneshwari Circle in Chamarajanagar on Saturday and later released.

Speaking on the occasion, Vatal Nagaraj that the Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda should shed his inhibitions and superstitions and visit Chamarajanagar within a month, otherwise he will be forced to approach the court in this regard. 

Kabini project

If the CM visits the district, he would be given a grand welcome. He also demanded implementation of Kabini II phase work and if the government fails, he would take out a mega rally from Chamarajanagar to Kabini reservoir.

Vatal also put forth the following demands: Renovation of the Chamarajeshwaraswamy temple, chariot and the chariot of the Biligiriranganabetta ‘dodda ratha’. Approve medical college in the district and double road between Mysore and Chamarajanagar.
 
Every village should be supplied water from the river and sanctioning of Rs 10,000 crore for the overall development of the border district and implementation of Nanjundappa report were the other demands.

He also demanded a probe into the incident where the chief minister was provided distilled water for drinking during his visit to Malemahadeshwara hills recently.
