Deputy Commissioner of Chamarajnagar had ordered ban on movement of vehicles on June 3, and the order was withdrawn on June 10, 2009.

L Srinivasa Babu, a city-based advocate in his petition questioning the withdrawal, had alleged that the ban had been lifted under political pressure and to placate lorry owners.
The movement of vehicles on the 30 km stretch passing through Bandipur Tiger Reserve and National Park was adversely affecting the wildlife habitat and had led to killing of rare and endangered species, the petitioner said, praying for revival of the ban.

A division bench comprising Chief Justice P D Dinakaran and Justice V G Sabhahit directed the government counsel to get instructions on the issue.
