Speaking at a function organised in connection with Women's Day celebrations here, she said women had been leading a struggled life for her freedom.

Women are portrayed as too good and too bad in television serials. The good women are shown as those who do bhajans just like a typical Hindu. By doing this some people were trying to make the secular India as complete Hinduism.

She said woman dons the role of a mother, daughter and wife.

Freedom

She always portrayed as one who made supreme sacrifice by taking care of children and doing household works, Of late, it is observed that even women also need freedom as they too have hundreds of wishes. Her feelings should be respected by men.

On his occasion Prof Sagar read out a poem 'Chukki emba Chandramanigondu kivi mathu' for her son and also on sex workers.

Deputy Mayor Pushpalatha Jagannath opined that it was possible to achieve anything if they have self confidence. Woman has been living a struggled life daily.

Self reliant

Time has come for her to become self reliant. Women achievers from various fields, Shanthi B Ravi, Poojashree Venkatesh and Lingamma were honoured.

Special awards were given to Veronica Magar and Devamma. Inner-Wheel president Priyashetty, Nanda Halimani and Ashodaya Samiti president Gowramma and Sourabh Varma were present.
