Members of the Karnataka Veterinary Doctors’ Association have threatened to resign en masse if the government fails to fulfill their demands.

Dr Srinivas Reddy, president of the Association said the members would assemble at the animal husbandry commissioner’s office on Saturday.

The veterinary doctors have been demanding pay scale on a par with the medical officers of the health and family welfare department. “There is a difference of Rs 18,000 between the two at the entry level,” they said. Despite serving for more than 30 years, the veterinary doctors are not given any promotion, Dr Reddy alleged.

Dr Reddy said that of the 750 doctors, nearly 150 had resigned due to the government’s apathy. Currently, 1,300 posts  are vacant, he added.
