Mangaluru: Members of Vishwa Hindu Parishad, Bajrang Dal took to the streets to protest against the arrest of ISKCON monk Chinmoy Krishna Das Prabhu. They assembled in front of Mini Vidhana Soudha on Friday and demanded protection of Hindus in Bangladesh.

Addressing the protesters, VHP Karnataka Dakshina Prantha President M B Puranik said, “A conspiracy is underway to expel Hindus from Bangladesh. ISKCON, an organisation born for peace in the world, has gained the love of people globally.

"Authorities in Bangladesh have detained ISKCON monks who were serving the poor without any reason. We urge the authorities to release them immediately without any conditions."

Manila mutt Seer Mohandas Swamiji said people who have come from Bangladesh to India for livelihood must raise their voices; otherwise, difficult days are ahead for them.

The Hindu community should awaken, forget differences, and unite. A strong sense of belonging should grow among Hindus.

VHP leader Sharan Pumpwell stated that in Bangladesh, there have been several attacks in the past six months. The administration in Bangladesh is in the hands of Islamic Jihadi forces.

Secular leaders and so-called intellectuals are not speaking out. The United Nations must intervene.

The stance of the Indian government is not clear. The Indian government should also take immediate action to protect Hindus. Various organisations will unite to hold protests across the state next week, he said.
