Former executive officer of Kollur Sri Mookambika temple triggered a controversy by entering the restricted area of the temple ‘Lakshmi Mantapa’.

Former executive officer, T R Uma, entered the temple’s restricted area where the temple priests were present.

The officer as part of Suhasini Pooje was offering Bagina when the incident took place. A video clip of officer entering the area has gone viral on social media.

The temple management committee president Harish Kumar Shetty said a departmental inquiry will be conducted by Kundapur AC. “While offering the Baagina the officer need not enter the Lakshmi Mantapa,” he said.

The officer was not available for comment as she had immediately left the temple after the puja.

Executive officer H Halappa said the officer had admitted her mistake and apologised orally. However she was asked to tender a written apology.

Uma incidentally is the same officer who had complained against the misuse of ornaments in the temple by one, Shivram, in 2016.
