Bengaluru, DHNS: State BJP president B Y Vijayendra on Thursday hit back at Chief Minister Siddaramaiah with a sharply worded post on X, accusing him and his party of “shedding crocodile tears” over social justice, reservations, and the Constitution.
Responding to Siddaramaiah’s remarks, Vijayendra wrote that he had respectfully suggested Congress declare Mallikarjun Kharge as its prime ministerial candidate, believing that Siddaramaiah’s concern for the marginalised was genuine.
“Instead of accepting the suggestion positively, he replied with despair and an unconvincing response,” his post read.
He went on to question Congress’s track record, stating that despite Kharge’s stature and experience, the party sidelined his seniority and denied him the chance to become chief minister.
‘Self-serving’
Calling Siddaramaiah’s concern “self-serving”, Vijayendra claimed that all communities in the state could see through the facade.
“The countdown has begun, and this duplicity is bound to explode any moment,” he warned.
Taking a dig at the Congress, Vijayendra cited the case of Chalavadi Narayanaswamy, a Dalit leader who, according to him, was neglected in the Congress but was welcomed into the BJP and immediately given an important organisational role.
“Chalavadi Narayanaswamy was sent to the Legislative Council and appointed as the Leader of the Opposition, a recognition of his capabilities and merit,” Vijayendra said.
He also praised senior BJP leader Govind Karjol, describing him as a former deputy chief minister and current member of parliament, and asserted that the doors to higher positions remain wide open for him.
“We don’t need lessons from Congress on how to respect Dalits and backward classes,” Vijayendra said, concluding his post.
