Shivamogga: Karnataka BJP president B Y Vijayendra on Thursday said that developments within the party have deeply hurt him and its workers, particularly the remarks made by some leaders that "insulted a fighter" like his father and former Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa.

Speaking to reporters in Shivamogga, Vijayendra said efforts would be made to resolve these issues and that he would bring the matter to the attention of national leaders.

Vijayendra also appealed to senior party leader B Sriramulu -- who has offered to quit the party after allegations were made that he was responsible for BJP's defeat in Sandur assembly by-poll -- urging him not to allow misunderstandings

"Do not allow for misunderstandings. Let us all move forward together," Vijayendra said.

He further mentioned that a meeting chaired by National General Secretary and Karnataka in-charge Radha Mohan Das Agarwal was attended by 55 to 60 MLAs and MPs.

"More than 90% of them expressed the opinion that Vijayendra is doing a good job and should continue. However, only five or six key individuals are making statements against him. Their dissatisfaction is about other matters, not about the president post," he said, adding that answers to these concerns would be addressed after the district and state president elections
