Bengaluru: BJP state president B Y Vijayendra has written to Home Minister G Parameshwara, urging for immediate recruitment to police sub-inspector (PSI) posts.
Vijayendra said the delay in recruitment and shortage of police manpower were impacting the law and order situation in the state.
The selection process for 545 PSI posts is held up due to various reasons. In 2021, another notification was issued for 402 PSI posts and a provisional list of 381 candidates was published, but recruitment did not happen.
Vijayendra said in his letter that there have been no disputes or legal issues in this selection process, but the government was delaying it unnecessarily.
"Candidates whose names appeared in provisional list are waiting for over 4 years, causing them mental stress. Their families are facing anxiety too," he said.
The state BJP chief urged the government to treat the matter as top priority and issue appointment orders soon. He stressed that the enthusiasm of selected candidates should not be dampened.
