Revappa from Hampapura and Ramesh from Kirikodli were killed by rogue elephants and the villagers were raged against the negligence of the authorities after the incident. “The authorities are neither digging trenches around forest area nor installing solar fence to ward off the elephants.

Meanwhile, MLA M P Appachuranjan has condoled the death of two persons due to rogue elephant attack and directed the forest officials to take all measures to prevent such incidents in future.

Over a telephonic conversation, Ranjan said that a programme has been made to prevent elephant menace in Kodlipet region and the plan is awaiting Government approval.
ACF Prasanna Kumar said that a meeting of local residents will be held on Wednesday at Hampapura to get opinion and suggestions with regard to controlling elephant menace in the region.
