Villagers of Nakuru in Kodagarahalli Gram Panchayat limits have vented their anger against the authorities who have been responsible for the inordinate delay in the road works.

The road leading to Nakuru village is in a pitiable condition, especially, the 5-km stretch between Bhagawathi Temple and Basaveshwara Temple, which is awaiting a facelift from the past several years.

The villagers had requested the authorities to lay interlock on the road. Accordingly, the road development work was handed over to a contractor by name Dasanda Ramesh of Seventh Hosakote, in two places, at a cost of Rs 8 lakh, under the rain relief fund, last year.

The work was supposed to be taken up during March 2020.

But, the contractor has not taken up the work to date. He has been giving the excuse of shortage of labourers.

The villagers said that even though the migrant labourers from West Bengal and Assam have returned to their native places, the work can be carried out with the help of the local labourers.

Also, repair work on a 1-km-long road was planned under the additional grants. But, this too is delayed.

Engineer Faiz Ahmed said that directions have been given to the contractor and he has been asked to instal good quality interlocks. After the work, the pending work under the rain relief fund will be carried out, at a cost of Rs 5 lakh.
