Villagers stage protest demanding arrest of murder accusedThe family members allege that police have complete details of the accused and submit memorandum to Tahsildar

It was said that the burnt body of one Shiva was found on the roadside at Shivapura. The family members who alleged that it was a murder and had filed a case in the Somwarpet police station. “In fact, DySP Jayaprakash had constituted a team and had interrogated few youth on the grounds of suspicion. However, owing to the political pressure, the investigation is being delayed,” said the family of the deceased.

The villagers, members of Sthree Shakti Sangha, Self Help Groups formed a human chain and expressed their dissatisfaction over the delay in the investigation.

“My son has become orphan and family is on the streets. The culprits must be arrested at the earliest,” said Vasudha, wife of the deceased in her appeal to the MLA M P Appachu Ranjan.

The family members alleged that the police have complete details on the accused. However, the authorities are trying to transfer DySP Jayaprakash to Kushalnagar.

“There was no doubt over the murder. No political party can protect the accused. I will not allow those who were indulged in murder, dacoity to be free from the clutches of law. If the police fail to arrest the accused within a month, then the case will be handed over to the CoD,” said MLA Appachu Ranjan.

On the direction of the MLA, SP Manjunath Annigeri visited the spot and assured to accelerate the investigation process within three to four days. A memorandum was submitted at the Tahsildar office on the occasion.

Members of Doddamalthe Basaweshwara, Om Sri Shakti, Honnamma Thayi, Sridevi, Vaishali, Vanasri, Vidyasri, Cauvery, Nisarga and Chamundeshwari self help groups took part in the protest.
