The Vijaya Rural Development Foundation (VRDF) of Vijaya Bank has donated a Vermibin to the government run ‘Nirashrithara Punarvasathi Kendra’ (Rehabilitation Centre for Destitutes) at Pacchhanadi here. The vermibin designed by the Zoology Department of St Aloysius College was installed inside the centre to manufacture compost using waste materials. Foundation Vice President M Premanatha Alva handed over the vermibin to the centre. District Social Welfare Department Deputy Director P A Ganapathi, Foundation Secretary B Rajendra Rai, CEO C K Parthasarathi, Rehabilitation Centre wardens Dharmapal and Ashok Kumar Shetty were present.
St Aloysius College Zoology Department head Dr Harish Joshi explained the process of making compost using vermibin on the occasion.
