Majority of water springs inside Kudremukh National Park jurisdiction have dried up, aggravating the water crisis.
About 300 to 350 inches of rain lashes Kudremukh National Park limits every year. Last year, over 300 inches of rain had lashed the region. Unfortunately, all the small streams and lakes inside the park limits are dry now. The waterfalls do not have even 10% of water.
The water-level in Lakhya stream and other water bodies has declined drastically following the sweltering heat, said the residents.
Normally, the maximum temperature at Kudremukh National Park was 28 degree Celsius. This year, it has touched 32 degree Celsius. As a result, the evaporation of water was high, said environmentalists.
