Webcasting in 197 polling booths in Udupi

The Udupi district administration is gearing up to adopt the webcasting method in 197 polling booths in the the forthcoming Lok Sabha polls, said Deputy Commissioner Dr Muddumohan. 

Chairaing a meeting on Saturday, he said that webcasting will be taken up with the engineering college students of MIT, Moodalkatte and Nitte engineering colleges. The students from engineering colleges will get an opportunity to operate webcam enabled laptops in selected polling booths and capture live polling video which will be uploaded in the district administration’s official website. 

Accordingly, 182 students from MIT, 126 from Moodalkatte engineering college and 100 from Nitte engineering college will take part. 

SVEEP in Malpe

At a voter awareness programme organised as a part of Systematic Voters Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) programme on Saturday, the DC said that citizens are backbone of the country. The voters should exercise their franchise for a strong democracy. 

Addressing fishermen at a SVEEP programme, he called upon the voters to exercise their franchise on April 17. He read out a pledge on exercising franchise to fishermen and fisher women. 

ZP CEO M Kanagavalli said that exercising franchise is a sacred right entrusted in the Constitution for every individual. ZP Deputy Secretary Pranesh Rao also spoke. As a part of the awareness programme, mime show and songs were sung. 

A CD on the need for exercising franchise was screened on the occasion.

Voter slip

Election Observer Amarnath Malik said that the officials should work towards free and fair election. 

The DC said that booth level officers should ensure that voter slip reaches every house. The BLO will be available in all the polling booths on the day of election. Additional DC Kumar was present.
