Kolar: Revenue Minister Krishna Byregowda sought to know what the Central agencies like ED and CBI were doing with regard to charges of offering Rs 150 crore to BJP leader Anwar Manippady to be silent on Waqf property encroachment report.
Speaking to mediapersons here in Kolar on Sunday, minister Byregowda, quoting Chief Minister Siddaramaiah's charges, said that "When Yediyurappa was the chief minister, his son Vijayendra had approached Anwar Manippady to be silent on the Waqf encroachment report. This was even mentioned by MLA Basanagowda Patil Yatnal on several occasions."
"While the ED and CBI is issuing notice to Congress leaders on false allegations, why are they silent when the BJP leaders are facing such serious charges? Do CBI and ED function only to target Congress leaders? If these agencies have constitutional responsibility, they must probe into these charges. Chief Minister too has stated the same," he remarked.
On covid deaths during the then BJP government, minister Krishna Byregowda asked "Should we forget that the BJP made money on Covid bodies? They paid heavy amount to purchase substandard materials during the Covid pandemic. This will be revealed in the probe."
He went on to say that were BJP leaders demons or humans to indulge in corruption during Covid pandemic? "It is the same party that seeks votes in the name of Hindus. But indulged in corruption during the pandemic. Is it not against the Hindu religion,? he mocked.
