“I will not quit as minister. Why should I quit? What is the blunder I have committed?”
This is how RD&PR Minister Shobha Karandlaje reacted on Saturday when Deccan Herald asked her whether she would be putting in her papers following complaints against her from a section of party leaders.
Shobha is the lone woman minister in the Yeddyurappa’s Cabinet. She has been at the receiving end from the day she came to power. The MLAs who failed to make it to the Cabinet and also a section of the ministers have been complaining against her to the high command.
The allegation is that she has been given too much prominence by the CM and she is interfering in other department works.
“Neither the CM nor the party has asked me to resign. What’s the sin I have committed to resign? The Chief Minister has given me a responsibility and I am fulfiling it. I have to meet his aspirations when it comes to work. Is there any evidence to show that I have interfered in anyone’s work?”
She said she was busy with her department work and did not meet anyone including Arun Jaitley or the CM. “All the relief work are on as per schedule. I have been conducting video conferences with officials,” she said.
