Addressing the district level advisory committee meet with regard to providing marketing facilities to stree shakti groups, at Deputy Commissioner’s office in Madikeri on Wednesday, he said that women and child welfare department, other departments of the government and Non Government Organisations should join hands to strengthen Stree Shakti Groups.
“At present, the products produced by the Stree Shakti Groups are being marketed at the local level but there is a need to provide marketing facilities at the Taluk and District levels.
Janata Bazar and other organisations should take the initiative of purchasing the products of the Stree Shakti Groups,” said the in charge DC adding that Sheegakai powder, phenyl, masala powder, papad, pickle etc must be purchased by government hostels and other government offices.
“The Stree Shakti Groups must be provided with loan on time through lead bank. The facilities of the bank must reach these groups as early as possible and the schemes of the women and child department should not go waste,” he said and warned that women and child department will be held responsible if any of the government programmes to help the groups are not implemented efficiently.
Women and child Welfare Deputy Director Vijayalakshmi Shenoy said that sale expo has been organised in 16 hoblis of the district to market the Stree Shakti products. An expo has been organised at the district level and there are plans provide better marketing facilities in future.
District Health Officer Dr Yathiraj said that the health department is supplying phenyl and other necessary products to the hospital. However, he promised to purchase products required in the hospital from the Stree Shakti Groups, if need arises.Zilla Panchayat CEO N Krishnappa, Zilla Panchayat Executive Engineer Keshav Murthy, Lead Bank Manager Arunachal Sharma among others were present during the meeting.
