Gonikoppa, Kodagu district: The occupants of a car, including the driver, miraculously escaped unhurt after a wild jumbo attacked the vehicle in the Mattigodu forest range near Majjigehalla in the district on Wednesday evening.

Three women and a child, along with the driver, were travelling from Virajpet to Mysuru via Gonikoppa-Titimati route, when around 7 pm, as the car was passing through the Nagarahole national park, an elephant suddenly emerged and blocked the car.

Terrified, the passengers screamed in panic. Despite the jumbo’s continued aggression, they managed to open the car door and escape.

The car was damaged in the attack. Forest officials have conducted an inspection.
