Sakleshpur: A female elephant and its calf died because of electrocution at ABC estate, near Guddabetta village, in Sakleshpur taluk, Hassan district, on Sunday.

According to the Forest department officials, the jumbos had strayed into the coffee plantation in search of food on Saturday night.

Prima facie it looks like that it had come in contact with the live electric wire, that had snapped due to heavy rains and winds and died of electrocution.

Forest department officials and veterinarians have arrived on the spot for inspection. As the incident has occurred at Sakleshpur rural police station limits, Police have also visited the spot.
