Mysuru: The Forest Department has increased the timings and fare of wildlife safaris at Nagarahole Tiger Reserve, with effect from June 1 (Sunday).
Wildlife safaris are conducted at Kakanakote under Antharasanthe Range in H D Kote taluk; Nagarahole Sanctuary, Veeranahosahalli in Hunsur taluk; and Nanachi Gate in Kodagu, every day.
The number of people visiting the Kakanakote safari centre at Kabini backwaters is on the rise. Hence, many people who come from Bengaluru and other places have to return disappointed, not able to enjoy the safari. Hence, the timings have been revised. With the change, many will get an opportunity for the wildlife safari, say the officials.
The bus at Kakanakote Safari Centre had a three-hour trip inside the forest. The tickets were priced at Rs 865 for adults, Rs 430 for children and Rs 855 for those travelling on a jeep, per head.
New timetable
As per the new timetable, there will be a two-hour safari in the morning and in the evening. The timings will be from 6 am to 8 am and from 8.15 am to 10.15 am. It will be from 2.15 pm to 4.15 pm and from 4.30 pm to 6.30 pm.
For a two-hour safari in a bus, the fare will be Rs 600 for adults and Rs 300 for children. The fare will be Rs 1,000 per head in a jeep.
The safari timings at Veeranahosahalli will be from 6.15 am to 9.45 am from Veeranahosahalli Gate, and from 3 pm to 6.30 pm. The fare is Rs 600 for adults and Rs 300 for children and Rs 1,000 per head for the jeep.
The safari at Nanachi gate in Kodagu district will be from 6 am to 8 am and 8.15 am to 10.15 am, 2.15 pm to 4.15 pm and 4.30 pm to 6.30 pm. The fare will be Rs 600 for adults and Rs 300 for children, and Rs 1,000 for the jeep.
Camera fee
The camera fee has also been revised. No charge will be collected for a DSLR camera without a lens.
For cameras with 200 mm to 500 mm lenses, it will be Rs 1,000 plus GST; for cameras with a lens of 500 mm and for more, it will be Rs 1,500 plus 18% GST. Earlier, there was a fee even for cameras without a lens.
