On Monday, the vendors met the Municipal Commissioner and handed over a memorandum demanding withdrawal of the fee citing that they are finding it difficult to pay the amount everyday.

They said that they earn about Rs 50 to 60 per day after roaming all over the city with the pushcart. Since the income is not even sufficient for them to make a decent living, paying the fee from the same amount is like an added burden.

“They collect Rs 2 to 5 from each person at APMC yard as fee. Another Rs 10 per person is collect at the entrance of the yard. If we refuse to pay the amount, they pull our weighing machine. How do we run our business like this,” says a vendor.
