Halagur: A woman allegedly attempted to commit suicide, as a private finance company seized her house for non-payment of loan at Konnapura village, near Halagur in Mandya district of Karnataka on Tuesday.
Prema, 59, wife of Andanaiah of Konnapura, tried to end her life by consuming poison. She is being treated at the intensive care unit at the district hospital, in Mandya.
Prema was a daily wager at TAPCMS in Malavalli. She had availed Rs 6 lakh from a private finance company, for constructing her house in 2018. As she defaulted on seven installments, the finance company had approached the court. As per the court order, the finance company officials, under police security, sealed the house last week.
Prema, along with her husband and daughter, were staying in a relative's house. Besides, she had availed Rs 1 lakh from a private chit transaction and had to return the amount in a week. She was depressed over the developments and tried to end her life, according to the villagers.
