A woman IT professional was allegedly harassed by a group of taxi drivers at Mangaluru international airport for hiring a leading private cab instead of the taxis at the airport stand, police said today.

In the complaint filed by the victim at the women's police station here, she stated that the group of taxi drivers threatened, hurled abuses and tried to outrage her modesty, police said.

She was coming from Bengaluru on June 12 after getting information that her father-in-law was in critical condition. Her family members had booked the cab so that she could reach home soon after her arrival, according to the complaint.

The taxi drivers also allegedly manhandled the driver of the private cab, it stated.
No one at the airport bothered to intervene during the incident. As she tried to walk towards the cab after its driver shifted it to another place, the taxi drivers allegedly hurled abuses on her, the complaint said.

The woman had to take a rickshaw from the road outside the airport. She reached home to know that her father-in-law passed away minutes before her arrival, the complaint said.
The complaint was filed yesterday after which an FIR has been registered at the women's police station, police said.
