Chikkamagaluru: A young woman was killed in an elephant attack near Bannur of Narasimharajapura taluk in Chikkamagaluru on Wednesday night.

The deceased has been identified as Anita (25). She was a native of Honnali in Davanagere taluk. She was working as a plantation worker at an estate belonging to Shashishekhar in Bannur and was staying in a line house of a coffee estate.

The incident happened at 9 pm in Wednesday when she was returning from work.

A severely injured Anita was being shifted to Shivamogga hospital after receiving first aid at Balehonnur hospital. However, she breathed her last en route.

A case is registered at Balehonnur police station.
