A 25-year-old woman was killed in a lightning strike in Chamarajanagar district on Thursday night.

The deceased has been identified as Seetha.

The incident occurred when she was heading to Bisilawadi village along with her husband Ranjan.

The couple hailed from Salem district and were going to Bisilawadi in search of works.

Ranjan escaped unhurt in the incident.

Furniture and other materials were gutted due to an electric short circuit at St. Josephs Hospital in Chamarajanagar after it started raining heavily.

The rains also brought some respite as Dodda Arasana Kola lake was filled to the brim for the first time in the last 30 years.

Heavy rains elsewhere across the state left a trail of destruction.

Walls of two houses at Bandigere in Haradanahalli in Hassan district collapsed.

Many trees got uprooted in Sirsi disrupting vehicular movement and adversely affecting electricity and water supply.

Similar incidents were reported from a few parts of Chikkamagaluru district.
