Woman’s body parts found in gunny bags

The mutilated body parts of a murdered woman were found in gunny bags scattered across the city on Sunday.

City Police Commissioner Sandeep Patil has identified the deceased as Shreemathi Shetty (35), a resident of Amar Alva Road in the city. She was staying with her aunt (father’s sister) on Amar Alva Road.

Miscreants after murdering Shreemathi had mutilated her body. Her head was found in a gunny bag on the highway between Nanthoor and KPT, torso was found in a bag at Nandigudda burial ground while her legs and hands were found in a gunny bag at Koti Chennaiah Circle, he added.

Shreemathi was is a divorcee and her former husband Sudeep is in judicial custody in a theft case registered at Mangaluru South Police Station.

Commissioner said the preliminary investigation revealed personal reasons for the murder. “Three squads have been formed to trace the accused. Investigation is on.”

Sources in police said victim was married 14 years ago but had divorced her husband. She tied the knot again with one Sudeep, a distant relative, from Madikeri. However, she divorced even Sudeep.

Shreemathi’s family members had opposed her second marriage. As a result, she had distanced herself from her mother and sisters. After her divorce, she started staying with her aunt.

Shreemathi was running a fan repair shop at Attavar and had built a house on Amar Alva Road, four years ago. She used to go to her shop in her car. On Saturday, she went on her two-wheeler to the shop. However, she did not visit the shop. When she failed to receive calls, the family members complained to the police.
