A woman was killed on the spot and four others were injured after lightning struck them in Sira taluk in Tumkur district on Monday night.
Police have identified the deceased as Lakshmidevamma, 50, a resident of Madaluru in Sira taluk. Of the four injured, the condition of Gopal, who is in a hospital in Bangalore, is said to be critical. The other three are yet to be identified.
All of them are residents of Ojagunte village. Heavy rains lashed Mudigere taluk in Chikmagalur district for two hours on Tuesday, and threw normal life out of gear. The rains caused inconvenience to schoolchildren, returning home.
Motorists too struggled to commute on the water-logged roads. Rainwater gushed into many houses in the low-lying areas of Chatramaidan, Thathkola and Ganganamakki. Heavy rains also lashed Chikmagalur taluk.
