Ballari: The work on setting up a jeans park at Sanjeevarayana Kote on the outskirts of Ballari has gained momentum with tender being floated for development of the park.
The Karnataka Industrial Areas Development Board (KIADB) has acquired 154 acres of land for the park. The farmers have been paid compensation at the rate of Rs 40 lakh per acre for acquisition of their lands.
The KIADB has drawn plans to accommodate over 500 units in the proposed jeans park. There are more than 500 jeans entrepreneurs spread across Ballari and Mundargi industrial areas.
KIADB Assistant Engineer Govind Naik said that land acquisition has been completed for jeans park and work order has been issued to take up development.
Meanwhile, jeans dyeing units in Ballari district are facing closure order by the Karnataka State Pollution Control Board as they are discharging effluents without setting up treatment plants.
