Writer selected for Gourmand international award

Indian writer P T Bopanna has been selected for the Gourmand International Award for his book ‘The Romance of Indian Coffee.’

An e-mail received by the author from the President of the Gourmand Awards in Spain said that the award has been given under the ‘Best Coffee Books’ category.

According to the mail, the winner in each country will compete against winners in the same category in other countries for ‘The Best in the World’. The results will be announced May 28 at the annual awards event.

It will take place at Yantai, wine capital of China near Beijing, during the Grapes by the Sea Festival, on the Wine Bay beach.

Sixty-four countries will participate in the Gourmand Drinks Awards this year. The names of the award winners will be published in the Gourmand official website in February.

The Gourmand World Cookbook Awards were founded in 1995 by Edouard Cointreau. It is open to publishers in all languages and countries. The Gourmand Awards celebrate global cook book and wine book publishing and feature many world-renowned chefs every year.
