Yeddyurappa to celebrate Diwali with flood victims in RaichurBonds, sarees to be distributed to Bhagyalakshmi beneficiaries

Malkapur was one of the worst affected villages in the last year’s devastating flood. Scores of people had lost their houses. Cisco and some voluntary organisations have constructed houses for the flood victims. As many as 325 houses are ready for occupation and about 290 people are expected move into the new houses on Balipadyami, Sunday.

He will celebrate Deepavali and will dine with people who will move into the new houses, sources said.

Saree distribution

Chief Minister Yeddyurappa will be inaugurating the bond and saree distribution programme for the entitled families of Bhagyalakshmi scheme in Raichur on Sunday. A health check-up camp has also been organised on the occasion.

The programme will be held at the premises of Yeramaras Air Strip near District training Centre in Raichur.

There are 49,000 Bhagyalakshmi scheme beneficiaries in the district of which 12,000 beneficiaries will receive bonds and sarees in the programme.

As many as 240 buses have been pressed into service in the district to bring people to the programme. Milk sachets, 200 ml each will be distributed among children and food arrangements for 15,000 people have been made, said Deputy Commissioner Anbu Kumar.

Apart from this 10 water tankers will cater to the needs of the people, he added. Health check-up camps have been set up four places and a team of 25 doctors and 75 nursing students will treat the people. The camp will be inaugurated by Minister for Health and Family Welfare Sriramulu.

Women and Child Development Minister C C Patil will distribute sarees to the beneficiaries of the Bhagyalakshmi scheme, Kumar added.
