The Dasara Samskrithika Samithi organised a children’s version of the festival – ‘Makkala Dasara’ – at the Gandhi Maidan on Wednesday.

A ‘Makkala Santhe’ was organised as part of the ‘Makkala Dasara’ and children sold vegetables including tomatoes, onion, potatoes and drumstick, along with fruits like banana, apples and oranges. In addition, the ‘child vendors’ sold soft drinks and dresses. A total of 88 children’s teams participated in the ‘Makkala Santhe’.

A fancy dress competition too was organised for children, with about 40 participants. The contestants came dressed as Krishna, Radha, Saraswati, Hanuman, Cauvery Matha, Onake Obavva, and other characters.

Results

The winners of the fancy dress competition are: Three to five years: Nafiya (I), Manwi Muthamma (II) and Aradhya Jagadish (III); six to eight years: Sarika (I), Anchal Joshi (II) and Sheethal (III); nine to 10 years: Poorna Prajna (I), Vikith (II) and Chinmay (III).
The winners of the ‘Makkala Santhe’ are Anusha (I), Sooraj M P (II) and Preetham (III). The winners of ‘Makkala Mantapa’ competitions are Sri Vinayaka Geleyara Balaga (I), Gajanana Geleyara Sangha (II) and Creative Boys (III).
