“The lenders had visited Naveen’s house and assaulted him by grabbing his collar, demanding the interest. They had threatened to kill him. He had to repay Rs 5 lakh, including interest, on a Rs 2 lakh loan. Last week, Lohith filed a complaint, requesting more time to repay the loan. We had warned the lenders and had sought a one-month extension. However, they harassed him again before the deadline. We will investigate the case and take action," said K R Pete Town Police.

"There are rumours on social media that Lohith had taken a loan from a finance company. But, this is far from the truth,” said SP Mallikarjun Baladandi.
