"The murder of Abdul Rahim is not a communal murder. There must be other reasons for the murder. Even the police have not revealed the reasons behind the murder of Abdul Rahim," Pradeep Saripalla told mediapersons at the VHP office.

The onus is on the police to unravel the identity of persons, the real reason and the source of funds received to execute the murder conspiracy. If the police are successful in curbing illegal activities, such murders will not take place in the district, he said.

VHP Prantha Goraksha Pramukh Sunil K R said their organisations did not support any kind of violence. "A murder of an innocent person cannot be justified."

He said, "False cases are being registered and our leaders are included in the list of rowdy sheeters. Police are also barging into our houses in wee hours. Even our patience has a limit and time will come for us to respond."

Sunil added, "Police have not shown any interest in including the names of those involved in cattle lifting or love jihad.

He lauded the police for taking action against those sharing messages inciting communal violence.
