Mangaluru: Karnataka Housing Minister Zameer Ahmed Khan should resign immediately and face investigation on corruption charges in the housing department, urged MLC C T Ravi.
Speaking to mediapersons in Mangaluru on Wednesday, he said that even though Zameer's personal assistant or officials of his department are allegedly involved in malpractices, he should be held responsible. In order to facilitate a fair and unbiased investigation, Zameer should resign as the minister and face the probe. He should resume after coming out clean, instead of doing 'Aane pramana'. “Is is afraid of going to jail?," Ravi asked.
Ravi said that the state government has raised Rs 1.16 lakh crore loans this financial year and the state exchequer is empty due to corruption by ministers in the Siddaramaiah cabinet. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah is not in a position to order a probe or initiate action against his corrupt ministers as he himself is facing the charges of corruption.
The prices of essential commodities have been hiked by the state government. Cess on diesel and petrol have been increased. Excise duties, stamp duties have also been hiked, Ravi said.
The recent statement by Raju Kage saying there has been no development works for two years and that of B R Patil about bribery in the housing scheme for the poor, proves that the government is involved in corruption.
Basavaraja Rayareddy had earlier stated that Karnataka is number one in corruption.
On the other hand, CM Siddaramaiah has stated that he will speak to the disappointed MLAs. “This is not a private matter or a romantic disappointment that it has to be spoken about in person”, C T Ravi said.
Also, the MLC criticised Home Minister Dr G Parameshwara for denying his earlier statement about lack of funds in the state government. “Parameshwar should admit the truth”, Ravi said.
