Thiruvananthapuram: Businessman Boby Chemannur, who was accused of sexual harassing Honey Rose, on Wednesday tendered apology to the Kerala High Court for not coming out of the prison on Tuesday even after he was granted bail.
Chemmannur, who was under remand in the Kakkanad prison in Kochi, rushed out of the prison on Wednesday morning after the HC decided to review the matter again.
While coming out of prison, Chemmanur said that apart from "technical reasons", he stayed back in the prison on Tuesday as he wanted to look into the grievances of some prisoners who could not come out of the jail as they failed to afford the small penalties imposed on them.
However, with the bench of Justice P V Kunhikrishnan strongly accusing Chemmannur of challenging the judiciary and even warning of cancelling the bail, Chemmannur appeared before the media and tendered an apology.
"I couldn't come out of the prison on Tuesday owing to technical reasons as the bail orders could not be produced at the prison. I had never shown any disrespect to the court. If I unknowingly hurt anyone, I tender an apology. I am convinced of the court's remarks against me. Hence, I will be careful in avoiding double meaning remarks. But being a businessman, I will be again seeking the service of celebrities for promotional activities," said Chemmanur.
Chemmanur, who is known as BoChe, also said that he had no connection with those who turned up in front of the prison to celebrate his release on bail.
After Chemmanur's lawyer informed the court that he had tendered an apology, the court closed the matter.
Chemmanur was held last week after the Kochi city police registered a sexual harassment case against him on the basis of a complaint filed by actor Honey Rose. He had made obscene remarks against her at a promotional function and on social media.
