The body of Bihar native Ajai Kumar Rai, 38, was recovered on Tuesday. The body of Mahadev Pradhan, 51, from Odisha was recovered on Monday evening. Both were operators of earthmovers.

The incident took place at Payyanamon near Konni on the suburbs of Pathanamthitta. Large pieces of granites had caved in over the earthmover on Monday afternoon.

Difficulties in taking cranes to the region through the risky terrain and frequent fall of quarry pieces were affecting the search operation. Even as NDRF personnel tried to remove small pieces of granites that caved in over the earthmover, cranes would be required to remove the large pieces. A long boom excavator was later brought to the spot from Alappuzha district and the body recovered. Rai's body was said to be trapped inside the earthmover.
