Thiruvananthapuram: Stepping up the attack against the CPI(M) government in Kerala over allowing a distillery and brewery unit at Palakkad, Congress on Thursday alleged that Delhi excise policy scam accused Kavitha K, who is the daughter former Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, visited Kerala in connection with the deal.
Opposition leader V D Satheesan of the Congress alleged that Kavitha had visited Kerala in connection with Kerala government's decision to give nod for Oasis commercial to set up a distillery and brewery in Palakkad district of Kerala.
"I ask Excise Minister M B Rajesh whether he knows the purpose of Kavitha's visit to Kerala and whom all she met," Satheesan asked.
Kavitha later reacted to a section of the media that the allegations against her were baseless. She also warned of action against raising baseless allegations against her.
The Congress had earlier alleged that the private firm that was given the nod by Kerala government to set up distillery and brewery at Palakkad was involved in the Delhi excise policy scam.
The CPI(M) had countered that the Congress was opposing the project to help the liquor manufacturers of Karnataka and Maharashtra, including Karnataka women and child development minister Laxmi Hebbalkar.
