The fifth generation F-35 fighter reportedly made the emergency landing owing to low fuel warning.

According to defence spokesperson, the diversion was a normal occurrence. The Indian Air Force facilitated the aircraft for flight safety reasons. All assistance given by the IAF is in coordination with all agencies.

The fighter plane reportedly operated from HMS Prince of Wales aircraft carrier. The landing was affected owing to adverse weather and hence the emergency landing in Thiruvananthapuram was required.

Sources said that the flight will return after refueling which requires Centre's nod and security clearances.
