Thiruvananthapuram: Businessman Boby Chemmanur alias 'BoChe' has been arrested by the Kochi city police in connection with the sexual harassment case registered against him on Tuesday on a complaint of actor Honey Rose.
Chemmanur was held from Wayanad on Wednesday morning. He will be produced before a court in Kochi.
The Kochi central police had registered a case against him by invoking various non-bailable sections, including section 75 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
The police swiftly acted and nabbed him from his estate in Wayanad. He was learnt to be planning to file anticipatory bail pleas on Wednesday.
Rose reacted to the media that she was happy over the police's swift action. She also said that it was a big relief that a person who had been frequently making insulting remarks against her was held.
Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan was learnt to have conveyed moral support to Rose and assured stringent police action. The Association of Malayalam Movie Artists also extended support to the actor.
Chemmanur, who is a prominent businessman running a jewellery shop chain and various other business ventures, is often criticised for making obscene remarks on social media.
