Thiruvananthapuram: A woman Congress MLA was injured after falling from the VIP gallery of a stadium in Kerala on Sunday evening.

Doctors treating Uma Thomas, MLA of Thrikkakkara in Kochi, told the reporters that she suffered injuries in brain and lungs apart from other minor injuries and fractures. She is under 24 hours observation.

The incident took place during a mega dance performance at the Jawaharlal Nehru international stadium Kaloor in Kochi.

According to the initial reports, the MLA fell while entering the VIP gallery on the first-floor. She fell on a concrete ground floor about 20 feet down.

She suffered head injury and was rushed to a nearby private hospital.

Uma Thomas had succeeded her husband P T Thomas as Thrikkakkara MLA by winning the by-poll in 2022 following Thomas's death in 2021.
