Kollam native Vipanchika and her daughter Vaibhavi were found dead in their flat in Sharjah on July 8.

A suicide note believed to be written by Vipanchika, that later appeared on social media, revealed the severe torture she had been facing from her husband Nitish, his father and sister.

Subsequently Vipanchika's mother Shailaja launched a fight for justice. Based on her complaint that her daughter faced harassment over dowry, the local police even registered a case against Nitish, his father and sister.

She then travelled to the UAE and claimed the body of her daughter and granddaughter. But the granddaughter's funeral was held in UAE itself as Nitish also claimed the body.

Vipanchika's body  was brought to Thiruvananthapuram by Tuesday night and re-postmortem being held here.

Even as the death of Vipanchika and her daughter occurred in UAE, she was allegedly facing harassment over dowry ever since they got married in Kerala in 2020 November. Hence the local police initiated a probe.

Vipanchika's family, especially her mother, is determined to bring before the law those responsible for the death of her daughter and granddaughter.
